Mitsuoka Updates Galue Limousine, Based on Nissan Teana

There are coachbuilders and coachbuilders. And then there's Mitsuoka, a Japanese company that believes in bettering a vehicle's appearance by collecting styling bits from here and there. Memorable creations include the Mazda MX-5-based Himiko Roadster, the Ford Mustang-based Galue Convertible and last but not least, how can we not forget the fish-faced Orochi...

In its latest venture, the Japanese coachbuilder has updated the design of its Galue Limousine, a four-door sedan built on the newest version of the JDM Nissan Teana sedan (see here).

We weren't able to decipher much from the Japanese-only press release, but looking at the photos it appears that Mitsuoka reworked the car's front (which continues to fuse styling elements from classic British cars) and rear ends. Talking about the Galue's buttocks, is it me or are those tail lights look eerily similar to the ones found on the Fiat 500?

The new Galue Limousine is offered in several trim levels and two engine options, a 2.5-liter and a 3.5-liter V6. It goes on sale in Japan on November 12, with prices ranging from 3,680,000 to 5,284,000 Yen (approximately US$44,700 to $64,200).

*Correction: The Galue is based on the JDM Nissan Teana and not the Fuga as previously noted

Mitsuoka Announces New Special Edition Version of its Mazda MX-5-based Himiko Roadster

Japan's most notorious replica maker, Mitsuoka, has just released another special edition version of its Mazda MX-5-based Himiko roadster. This time, Mitsuoka has crafted a rag-top variant of the Himico Classic Edition, which was available up until now only with a power-retractable roof.

The soft-top model gets the same two-tone, black and red exterior color scheme with a decorative chrome strip running on the sides, as the hardtop Himiko Classic HT. Inside, the stock MX-5 interior is spruced up with red-leather seats and splashes of ornamental wood trim here and there.

The long-nose roadster, which pays homage to classic British automobiles like Morgan's creations, is available with the MX-5's 2.0-liter four-banger producing 170HP when linked to a five-speed manual and 162HP when combined to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Production will be limited to 20 examples with prices starting from ¥4,880,000 (about US$56,500 or €43,400) in Japan.

Mitsuoka Galue Convertible – Yep, it’s based on a Ford Mustang!

Seems like those crazy folks at Mitsuoka where fed up with all those Nissan based, Jaguar look-alike replicas so they decided to take a hit –literally, on the Ford Mustang. The fact that they denied Nissan the privilege of using their cars doesn’t mean of course that they lost their tastes… So here’s what they came up with: a Mustang that looks like “milf” Bentley up front and like a Cadillac Eldorado ETC at the back. Revolting isn’t it? And imagine that in Japan Mitsuoka is asking a hefty 7.770.000 YEN or 65.000 USD for the V8 version and 6.720.000 YEN or 56.300 USD for the V6. Huh! They should be paying people just to be seen in it… -More images after the jump (click “Read More”)
